Summer School in Rio
As part of a strategy to internationalize its training programs, the Faculty of Law is initiating a partnership with the Institute for Technology & Society (ITS) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. As the name of the Institute suggests, this program will focus on the regulatory framework of technologies in our societies. Since this is the first edition of the program, the School will span over one week, and upon their return, students will have to present a paper on their Brazilian experience, and contrast it with the situation in Canada, in order to receive the 3 credits associated with this course. Students will be provided with pedagogical instructions before their departure for Rio.
Today’s communication technologies transcend all borders. To gain a better understanding of this new reality, this Summer School Program will introduce students to the situation in an emerging country hosting students and teachers with extremely diverse backgrounds. Though the topic will be explored with a Brazilian perspective, the program will also bring an awareness to international issues linked to the world of networks: students will be led to confront their preconceived ideas associated with industrialized countries with the equally valid perspectives and ideas of other countries to gain a greater understanding of the situation.
