For more than 50 years, the Université de Montréal’s Faculty of Law Legal Clinic has been a unique and dynamic place for learning while giving back to the community.
Under the supervision of experienced lawyers, Legal Clinic students offer free legal information services to the public, including members of the university community.
The mission of the Clinic’s activities consists of familiarizing students with the legal profession while responding to a real and critical concern of offering the public a better understanding of their rights and obligations, thus ensuring better accessibility to justice.
Consultations may cover a range of topics, such as:
- Insurance
- Labour Relations
- The consequences of a separation or a divorce (e.g.: custody, estates, alimony, etc.),
- Consumer Protection
- Civil Liability
- Housing
- Co-ownership

Waiting List
Anyone may use the Legal Clinic’s services. However, during periods of high demand, your name may be placed on a waiting list. In such situations, cases presenting the highest urgency or those with particular educational interest may be prioritized.
Services by appointment
Subject to exceptions, the Clinic is open on Monday until Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
All of our services are available by appointment only.
