Ways to Give

Various contribution options and financial vehicles are available to you. Whether you wish to make a one-time contribution or a long-lasting commitment, we have a solution that can meet your interests, goals, and expectations.

Create a custom fund or contribute to an existing fund

Throughout the years, the Faculty of Law has established nearly 80 custom funds to which donors can contribute. You also have the opportunity to create your own.

Establish a merit-based scholarship or a financial assistance grant

The Faculty of Law has several scholarships available to undergraduate and graduate students. You may also establish a new merit-based scholarship or financial assistance grant to help one or several students continue their education at the Faculty of Law.

Establish a research chair or contribute to an existing chair

A research chair is a prestigious institutional entity with great outreach potential that is supported by an endowed capital fund through donations. The interest revenue generated from this type of fund provides the money required to support research activities, training, and education in a specific area of research.

Legal clinics

Any philanthropic gesture in support of the Faculty’s legal clinics can make a difference, not only for students’ learning experience but also to improve citizens’ access to justice. Donors have the opportunity to visit the legal clinics and to gain firsthand insight into the work of students and their positive impact on clients.

Annual gift to your alma mater

A gift to your alma mater helps us to grow our activities: we can launch new projects, update existing programs, and accomplish concrete achievements such as providing scholarships and refurbishing the Faculty’s facilities.

Gifts in kind (art, property, equipment)

A contribution of real or personal property can make the donor eligible for a capital gains exemption.

Planned gifts (bequests, a donation of life insurance, the gift of securities, charitable annuity)

A planned gift is a donation that is part of a financial, tax, or estate plan. It may consist of deferred and/or immediate contributions. Whatever the form, a planned gift allows you to contribute to the development of the Faculty while taking advantage of tax benefits.

Matching gift

Some organizations offer employees matching gift programs. Please talk to your employer to find out if such a program is available.

Commemorative and in-memoriam gifts

A commemorative or in-memoriam gift to honour a special individual or celebrate an important event or anniversary are other ways to help the Faculty flourish.
