Philanthropic Funds and Research Chairs

Philanthropic Funds

The Faculty of Law has a series of custom funds (in French) designed to support educational activities, grant awards and scholarships, and foster special projects. You have the opportunity to contribute to a fund or project of your choice. You also have the possibility to have a project named after you, not only to preserve the memory of your contribution to the Faculty, but also to strengthen your relationship with the Faculty and its students.

Endowment funds hold their principal in perpetuity. Interest revenues from the funds are used to support activities chosen by the donors. You can name an endowment fund after yourself, a loved one, or any person you wish to honour. To establish a custom fund, please contact our Philanthropic Development Officer.

All funds are allocated to the endowment fund of the Université de Montréal and are administered in accordance with established policies.

Research Chairs

Seven research chairs are currently conducting activities as part of the Faculty of Law. Research chairs are often the result of a collaboration with private partners who, through their donations, wish to advance research in a field that matters to them. Research chairs also bring together leading researchers, fellows, and students around innovative and promising research topics. Each chair contributes significantly in its own way to the national and international outreach of the Faculty of Law.
