Édouard-Gabriel Rinfret (1905-1994)
Chief Justice of Quebec (1977-1980)
Elected as MP of Outremont for the Liberal Party of Canada in 1945 and 1949, he resigned in 1952 and was appointed to the Quebec Court of Appeal before becoming Chief Justice of Quebec from 1977 to 1980. Throughout his career, Justice Rinfret expressed a keen interest for theatre. He organized the Festival national de théâtre held in Montreal in 1961, which earned a Canadian Drama Award. In 1975, he published an analytical repertory of plays entitled Le théâtre canadien d’expression française.
