Gérard (Gerry) Roufs (1953-1997)
A competitive sailor, Gerry Roufs broke the Atlantic crossing record three times (in 1986, 1988, and 1990) and went on to win the Single-handed Trans-Atlantic Race in 1996. He disappeared at sea in 1997 during the Vendée Globe race.
