Biography

Marie-Claude Rigaud is the Faculty of Law’s Vice Dean, External Affairs and Communications, as well as an Associate Professor at the Université de Sherbrooke’s Faculty of Law. She attended McGill University, where she earned her civil law and common law degree (B.C.L., LL.B.), and Université Paris XII, where she completed her PhD (first class honours, with unanimous congratulations from the jury). Her doctoral thesis was supervised by Professor Emmanuel Gaillard and addresses procedures for international commercial arbitration. Since the beginning of her doctoral studies, Marie-Claude Rigaud has lectured at Université de Montréal, University of Toronto (Rotman School of Management) and Université de Sherbrooke.

Her research focuses on alternate methods of conflict resolution and professional ethics and codes of conduct. A member of the Barreau du Québec and the Ontario Bar Association, Professor Rigaud is a co-editor of Revue d’arbitrage et de mediation.
