Roy, Alain

ROY, Alain

Professeur titulaire

Professor Roy’s research and teaching activities focus on family law (patrimonial and extrapatrimonial), as well as the rights of children and youth. From 2003 to 2012, he led a large-scale empirical research project on conjugal contracts, made possible through research grants obtained from Canada’s Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council and the Law Commission of Canada. Since 2009, he has worked with other researchers on a study examining alimony payments made to ex-spouses, commissioned by the Quebec Department of Justice. From 2009 to 2013, Professor Roy was a consultant working with the Attorney General of Quebec on a much-publicized case referred to as Éric vs. Lola, upon which the Supreme Court delivered a judgment in 2013 (Québec (Procureur général) c. A, [2013] 1 R.C.S. 61)
